On Friday 20th May, Making Spaces (under the experienced wing of Niche Berlin) teamed up with Creamcake to curate the NIGHT SHIFT at the beautiful Akademie der Künste on Hanseatenweg. As part of the 36-hour Factory of Thought, we presented 8 hours of heady beats and tantalising tipples to launch the blog in a big way.
The line-up of DJs put together by the women from Creamcake was a resounding success. Mary Scherpe's crowd-pleasing hip hop melded seamlessly into a playful set by Creamcake's own Larry. An international roster of artists flew us through the hours. Thoughtful but bringing the energy, Liyo gifted us some of the sounds of Brussels. Spinee brought heavyweight beats to follow the live set by Ms. Banks. Taking us into the morning was Ziúr, with one final freaky push before the birdsong started. Diverse but consistently amazing. Thank you all.
We are also so grateful to all our wonderful friends, the Niche guides, who worked the bar all night. You were so great - thank you!
Of course we mustn't forget that the NIGHT SHIFT was just one part of the 36-Hour Factory of Thought, Public Space: Fights and Fictions. We were so impressed by this impeccably organised conference, and blown away by the calibre of every speaker we witnessed. Thank you everyone!
